NEK DAY AT THE STATEHOUSE IS COMING UP FAST!

Please join us for NEK Day at the Statehouse in Montpelier on Thursday, February 20. We're meeting with legislators and the press to talk about our region- its assets, its challenges, and what matters the most to us. Our agenda is packed with ceremony and civic opportunity. Come and communicate your community’s experience with attentive legislators; there won’t be another NEK Day for a whole year!
NEK Collaborative Policy Priorities
Housing
Make housing affordable and accessible to citizens of the NEK in order to drive economic development, create jobs, promote community development, and attract new residents.
Ease Act 250 and other regulatory burdens in ways that reflect the challenges of rural communities, but retains the landscape we depend on.
Rural Health Care Access
Strengthen our rural health care institutions like North Country Hospital and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, who play a vital role in providing life-sustaining care to communities with lower access to other health care options.
Support access to health care in rural areas which presents unique challenges for our citizens.
Flooding Recovery and Resilience
Invest in systems to help rural communities with emergency planning and mobilization, to provide quick access to necessary resources in times of disaster, and to support local volunteer efforts in their immediate relief and long-term recovery work.
Invest in infrastructure to withstand our new climate disasters, including roads, water and wastewater systems, and food infrastructure.
Invest in a new climate resilient workforce that can help develop housing and community resources located in areas outside the flood zone.

Please encourage your NEK legislators to participate! They already know all about it, of course, but it helps them and it helps us to have YOUR support and encouragement as well.
